In December of 2007, MAXjet Airways, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and ceased operations. MAXjet had been flying between London Stansted and several cities in the U.S., operating a fleet of Boeing 767 aircraft in an all-business class configuration. Now MAXjet is returning to the air as a luxury charter carrier.
A U.S. bankruptcy court recently approved the sale of MAXjet's assets to a unit of NCA Sports Group, which operates charter flights for college and professional sports teams. In a message posted on the MAXjet website, NCA Sports Group CEO, Kevin Clark, said, "I am looking forward to adding MAXjet to the NCA Sports Group family. In its 2+ years of operation, MAXjet offered travelers from 67 countries around the globe award-winning service. We believe that it's time for a smart luxury charter service that combines comfort, value and flexibility."
